Bill Capture is an iOS companion for FinanceFlow (macOS). Your scans stay on your iPhone unless you choose to send them to your Mac via Capture Link. We do not host bill images on WindyFarm servers.

Data stored on your iPhone
Bill Capture stores the following locally in the app sandbox:
- Photos or PDF pages of documents you scan or import
- OCR preview fields (vendor, amount, invoice number, due dates, energy/media fields, tags)
- Your edits to those fields
- Optional local “paid” marks, calendar reminder links, and Capture Link pairing token
- Optional JSON metadata backup you export yourself (does not include images unless you share them separately)
You can export or restore metadata JSON from Settings → Data. Deleting the app removes the local archive.
Optional: Capture Link (local network)
When you enable Capture Link and pair with FinanceFlow on a Mac on the same Wi‑Fi:
- The app sends document images or PDFs and preview metadata to your Mac via the local network (Bonjour / HTTP on your LAN).
- WindyFarm does not receive or store these transfers on our servers.
- FinanceFlow on your Mac processes documents in your local intake queue.
iOS will ask for Local Network permission before discovery or send.
Optional: iCloud (CloudKit companion)
If you use a build signed with CloudKit entitlements and LAN is unavailable, Bill Capture may enqueue a capture to your private iCloud container (iCloud.com.financeflow.shared) so your Mac can pull it. This uses Apple’s CloudKit under your Apple ID. We do not operate a separate cloud backend for bill images.
Optional: Calendar, Contacts, notifications
- Calendar (EventKit): if you add a due-date reminder, Bill Capture creates an event in a calendar you choose. Events can be linked when a bill is created in FinanceFlow on your Mac.
- Contacts: if you choose to save a vendor to Contacts, Bill Capture writes a contact on your device.
- Notifications: optional local reminders for due dates and overdue bills. No remote push from WindyFarm.
- Face ID / device passcode: optional lock for the local archive — processed on device by iOS.
OCR feedback (optional)
If you report an OCR issue, Bill Capture can send text and document files to FinanceFlow on your Mac over Capture Link into a local feedback folder for improvement. This is not uploaded to WindyFarm for machine-learning in the cloud.
Share Extension
The Share Extension can pass a PDF or image from another app into Bill Capture via a shared App Group container on your device.
Data we do not collect
- No WindyFarm login required for the free archive
- No advertising identifiers
- No third-party analytics SDKs in the app
- No sale of personal data
Purchases
Bill Capture is currently free. If in-app purchases are added later, they will be processed by Apple; we will receive only entitlement status via StoreKit.
Children
Bill Capture is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
